It’s been a long break but we’re on our way back to playing live. We’re kicking off with an acoustic ambient music session – we play, you dine – at The Lemon Tree Cafe & Bistro in Keighley on Saturday November 27th 2021. It would be great to see lots of you lovely people there. It’s not a ticketed event but you will need to book a table – contact the Lemon Tree at 01535 662825. It will be in the upstairs dining room and there are only 24 seats so we recommend you book early! Can’t wait!
Songs From Where We Are
We’re excited about a new Mockingbirds’ project that we’re calling ‘Songs From Where We Are’. New songs and stories from around where we live and life as we see it. We’ll be doing regular updates on this page so keep an eye out for more info as the project develops. Now where’s that pen ……..
New Songbook
Here’s the songbook for our Topic gig. We’re really looking forward to our on-line gig at the Topic Folk Club on Thursday 27th May at 8.00 p.m. It will be streamed via The Topic Facebook page and available on YouTube later. In case you want to join in and sing or play while you’re listening – here’s a songbook we’ve created for the event. There are a couple of our favourites plus some new songs about people and places in Yorkshire – Haworth, Hull, Whitby, Malham Cove and Keighley all get a mention.
Writing Remotely
How are you all doing in these tricky times? Me and Cath are separated by a virus and a couple of thousand miles at the moment so we’re song-writing remotely. Ideas are flying backwards and forwards across the airwaves while we stay safe. Hope to see you all before too long. Stay well x
New songs and old songs revisited
What a Week!
Well last week was quite a week. Started with a lovely gig at Bingley First Monday Folk at Chip n Ern, then packing in rehearsal time ready for the weekend and the always enjoyable music while you dine session at The Lemon Tree Cafe on Thursday evening. Friday it was Hellifield Village Hall, which was an absolute joy. Saturday we had an all day song-writing workshop with the fabulous Boo Hewerdine. it was a wonderfully friendly, engaging and productive day – two new Mockingbirds songs!! It was so good to have time to focus. We really enjoyed being in a room full of such talent and hearing the songs other people at the workshop had written – all different and all inspiring. Saturday evening we opened for Boo H at the Lemon Tree and he kindly lent us his song ‘Dragonflies’ which we love singing. Boo, as always, was fantastic – great songs, wry humour and so very generous with his talent. Great to see Mark Dennis get his guitar out and play a song with Boo. Excellent stuff! Sunday was special. Me and Cath aka Mockingbirds had a day with Boo to work through our recently written songs and re-work some older ones. Just a joy from beginning to end. Thanks Boo. On to the next chapter!
Opening for Boo (again!)
Really looking forward to opening for Boo Hewerdine at The Lemon Tree on Saturday 8th February. We’re so unbelievably lucky to have this opportunity. Can’t wait.
Busy, busy!
We’ve been busy adding events to our website and facebook page. Lots coming up so please take a look at our listings below. Big news for us is opening for Boo Hewerdine on February 8th at the Lemon Tree Cafe and Bistro after a week of gigs at Chip n Ern in Bingley, Hellifield Village Hall in North Yorkshire and the ambinet music session at the Lemon Tree in Keighley. New songs and new instruments in the set now so we’re looking forward to a busy week.
Find Your Dream!!! New CD out now!
Mockingbirds’ new CD ‘Find Your Dream’ is out now. It’s a collection of our own songs and a few covers. We’ve enjoyed every minute of writing and recording the songs and we hope you enjoy them.
Available at gigs from Pam and Cath, and by post and available as a download from Bandcamp.
Just £5 at gigs or £7 by post to the UK. Please contact us via the FB page or our contact page. Thanks.
Christmas Like We Do! Re-released!!!
Yes folks it’s that wonderful time of year and we’ve got copies of our CD ‘Christmas Like We Do’ available again. Once again we’ll be fund raising for Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank. Last year we raised a fabulous £850. Let’s hope we can add to that this year. CDs are £5 and you can still download from Bandcamp.
Great Night at The Castle
We had a great time at The Castle in Bradford. Thanks to everyone who came along and supported us. We signed our poster and we’re on the wall with all the other acts who have performed there over the years. Looking forward to playing there again next year.
Writing and Recording
Mockingbirds have been busy writing some new material and recording a few songs to see what works. Maybe a new CD? Watch this space.
Thank you! £850 raised for Food Bank
Thanks to all the lovely and generous people who bought our ‘Christmas Like We Do’ CD and made donations. Because of your generosity we were able to hand over £850 to the Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank in the week before Christmas 2016.
